Introduction to Marine Industry Spring 2025

Marine Industry Fundamentals & Entrepreneurship
Spring Semester 2025 (January - May 2026)

An immersive course covering marine industry operations, technical skills, and entrepreneurship. Students develop hands-on expertise in dock maintenance, engine servicing, marine electronics, propeller tuning, and welding, while creating a comprehensive business plan and financial model for "Full Throttle Marine" - a marine services business specializing in older boat models.

Key Learning Areas: - Business planning and entrepreneurship - Dock and marina maintenance - Engine servicing (outboard motors) - Marine electronics installation and troubleshooting - Propeller sizing, tuning, and performance optimization - Welding for marine applications - Business plan development and financial modeling

A comprehensive construction project that combines practical building skills with academic learning in engineering, architecture, project management, and finance. This project demonstrates interdisciplinary learning through hands-on construction experience.
