The Boat

Name: Scoughxxuene 2.0 (alias: Soon 2.0) Design: Salt Boatworks Flats River Skiff 16 (FRS 16) Designer/Supplier: Adam Parchman, Salt Boatworks — saltboatworks.com Construction Method: Stitch-and-glue plywood Kit Type: Plywood Kit (CNC pre-cut panels) Specifications: - Length: 16'7" LOA - Beam: 6'3" - Draft: 8"–10" - Max Power: 70 HP - Capacity: 4 persons


Planned Customizations

This build is a customized version of the FRS 16, designed with the following modifications and additions:

Structural Customizations: - Custom storage compartments - Integrated livewells - Rod holders (USA-made) - Casting deck

Accessories (prep/mounts this semester; install Spring 2027): - Front trolling motor mount - Power-Pole shallow water anchor bracket - Jack plate mount - Marine electronics (fish finder, GPS)

Finish: - USA-themed color scheme (red, white, and blue) - All USA-made materials and hardware where possible


Build Scope — Fall 2026

This semester covers the hull build only. The scope is: - Stitch all CNC-cut plywood panels - Install frames and bulkheads - Apply all thickened epoxy (seams and fillets) - Epoxy seal all interior and exterior wood surfaces - Apply fiberglass cloth reinforcement (interior and exterior) - Build all custom interior features (storage, livewell, casting deck, rod holders) - Install accessory mounting hardware and brackets - Apply primer and final paint (USA theme) - Deliver a complete, painted hull ready for rigging

Not in scope this semester: motor, electronics, rigging, accessories. These are the focus of the Spring 2027 semester (Power Install for Scoughxxuene 2.0).


Guest Participation

Each weekly session includes a structured Guest Task — a specific, hands-on activity designed so that invited guests can meaningfully participate in and learn from the build. Guests may join for a single session or return across multiple weeks. All guests are logged in the journal and acknowledged in the final report.
